WELCOME TO MARINE SCIENCE
Science is an exciting study because it enables you to better understand, and develop a belonging to, the world in which you live.
The following guidelines will help you succeed in the course:
-
PLEASE – SAFETY is always first! Please ask before using any instrument or mixing any chemicals; thereby avoiding any accidents.
- Standard classroom procedures will be adhered to at all times.
- Class time will provide you with a variety of experience; therefore it is the most important part of your education.
- A good set of notes represents your day-to-day impressions of class work. Carefully written, they are your memory “storage bin” to aid in successful reviewing.
- Questioning is your responsibility. Make it your business to ask when you do not understand; thereby clarifying that which bothers you. Real learning occurs when you realized what it is you do not understand. So please ask. Extra help is available Monday through Thursday.
- During lab and/or experiments observations are a necessity. Record all data on the lab in your composition notebook.
- Assignments will be given several days a week. These are your personal practice sessions. They will be reviewed in class and from time to time collected. Late assignments will not be accepted.
- At least 3 major tests will be given each quarter. Also, homework and/or lab quizzes will be given from time to time.
- A report or project may be assigned each quarter.
- Reading the chapter is a standing assignment.
- Participation and class/lab work give the instructor a feeling of what you have learned. So participate and use class/lab time to show that you are learning.
